Stefano Pelloni, KTM 450 equipped Mupo (company of Roberto Nuti Group), ranked 4th class and 5th overall in the grueling competition Africa Eco Race 2017, the real Paris – Dakar, on the historic route designed by Thierry Sabine many years ago, the one that leads from Monte Carlo to Lake rose in Dakar, Senegal, via Morocco and Mauritania.
12 stages, 6,500 kilometers of sand and stones, an entry in the legendary race, which saw the Italian rider reached the finish line with an extraordinary placement, after the unfortunate editions of 2015 and 2016.
“In 2015 I had retired with mechanical problems – he tells Pelloni – in 2016 however I had fallen in the second stage, and even then I had to retire. This year I was presented with the aim of bringing down the race, up to Dakar, instead came this unexpected result, because physically I was not in top form. Instead I have very little wrong and I hit a 5 th place of great prestige. ”

In 2016 and 2017 you have your bike equipped with a mono shock Mupo, how and when did the collaboration with the company of Castel Guelfo di Bologna?
“The collaboration came about by chance in the environment of motorcycle racing. Gianluca Maselli of Mupo I was presented by the Rinaldi Racing team, from the beginning, we were in tune. Maselli wanted to join the project and prepared a mono shock absorber and fork to measure first for Yamaha I had in 2016 and then for the KTM I’ve driven this year. ”

What are your plans for the future?
“I just started a racing team (RT73) that will compete in Enduro competitions and Motorally, I already got the cooperation of Mupo that will prepare dampers and forks for the guys on the team.”

As far as you’re concerned, you’re going to retry the African adventure?
“I think I take a year off to dedicate myself to the team. Prepare a race like the Africa Eco Race is exhausting, both in terms of physical preparation is with regard to the organization, the search for sponsors … I stop then I will see in the future”.
